● How to negotiate?

When applying for my first full-time job, I approached the interview with great caution, fearing that I might not successfully secure the position. Consequently, I didn't even consider how to negotiate salary at the time. On the other hand, as a recent university graduate, I was concerned that when faced with questions from employers, I might struggle to clearly understand my strengths and how to articulate them. After a year of working experience, I gained a deeper understanding of myself—my qualities and how to tackle challenges in the workplace. Leveraging the techniques provided in the video, I can envision scenarios and approaches for negotiating salary:

I would begin by researching and comparing the salary for similar positions at the company I'm applying to, based on the information available online. I would then highlight my unique qualities, experiences, and skills to illustrate how I can surpass competitors in the role and demonstrate how my approach aligns with the company culture. I would start the conversation by saying,

"Hello, I appreciate the recognition from _____ company, and I am eagerly looking forward to joining this team. To be honest, this is a dream job for me, and I believe my qualities align well with the company's culture. However, I currently don't have a clear understanding of whether I have met the company's expectations or if there are areas that need further improvement. This might be a reason why my salary expectation is slightly below the average for similar positions. Regarding experience, I understand that design fluency improves with accumulated experience, but I believe that each company has unique perspectives on design thinking, and differences in culture and image also impact the alignment of design. Although I don't have over five years of experience, I feel confident in integrating new or diverse design perspectives. I believe my flexibility is an asset, and compared to being rigid in my views, I excel at listening and responding appropriately. Based on my appreciation and understanding of _____ company's design style, I am confident that I can seamlessly continue and deliver results that meet client expectations."
